[The Thames]
[London]: [1959?]. Approximately 37 x 23 cm. Proofs, complete except for the title page/publisher, of a detailed work on the river Thames from its source to Nore by Neave Parker. It includes an index, contents and over 150 real photographs illustrating the work, in addition to dozens of copies of old prints and maps, also part of the intended book. The book has copious hand written notes in several hands. There is also a signed letter from the founder of the Illustrated London News, Herbert Ingram referring to drawings supplied to the newspaper, dated 3 September 1959. It is possible publication was cancelled on his untimely, and I think sudden, death at 51. Neave Parker is best known for his work with the Natural History Museum, London. Condition is good, the book is divided into stapled sections and in general the condition of the pages is very good with creases and bumping to the edges. Item #410893
