With the prospectus loosely inserted. The author received a MacArthur Award in 2009 for this history of Japanese paper and papermaking. It includes an appendix on alternative fibers by Winifred Lutz. The idea of the book was encouraged by Henry Morris of the Bird and Bull Press, which first published an early version book in a limited edition as 'Nagashizuki: the Japanese Craft of Hand Papermaking' (1979).
