Collection of trade catalogues of Japanese paper and wood veneer
London: 1960s. Four catalogues of "Real Japanese Paper" (together containing 62 specimens, 4 of which are partially trimmed) and one of Japanese wood veneer (5 speciments, one partially trimmed). 16 x 13 cm and smaller. Stapled, three in printed wrappers. Item #410737
T. N. Lawrence was at 2/4 Bleeding Heart Yard in London (the address stamped on the wrappers) from 1954 to 1990. These appear to date from the early years there. Eric Gill, Eric Ravilious and Reynolds Stone all used boxwood blocks made by the Lawrence business (The Artist, vol.102, August 1987, p.8). The business supplied the block that Stone used for the masthead of The Times in 1949 (obituary, The Times 19 February 1987).
