Kinder was the head of the bookbinding workshop at Roycroft in East Aurora. The title-page outlines the contents as "a Collection of Trade Formulas, the Results of Twenty-five Years Study and Practice in the Arts of Tooling in Gold, Edge Gilding, Marbling, Stamping, and various other Departments of Bookbinding." A superlative, out-of-series copy.
