The Legat Saga. An anecdotal study of the Life and Times of Nicolai Legat
London: Javog Publishing Associates, 1992. First edition, number 26 of 250 copies signed by the author. 11.5 x 8.25 inches. 183 pages. Profusely illustrated. Original cloth; dust jacket. Cloth lightly worn, jacket with some edge tears and light wear, longer central tear on front cover, internally clean and fresh. Item #410478
Additionally inscribed on the colophon to American socialist and humanist philosopher Corliss Lamont and his third wife Beth Keehner Lamont: "Dearest Corliss & Beth / This is just to let you know something about our life's work! Much love always, John & Brangwen [the author's wife, ballet dancer Barbara Vernon, known as Brangwen]." Brangwen had revolutionized Gregory's own training as a dancer by introducing him to the methods of Nicolai Legat, her late teacher and master of traditional Russian ballet. The two appeared in a Russian Revue at the London Coliseum produced by Legat's widow, Nadine Nicolaeva-Legat (she had also taught Brangwen). Quite uncommon.
