First edition. The dedication copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper: "To Mr. and Mrs. William Breffit from J. S. Fletcher." Fletcher (1863-1935) was an English author and journalist, publishing more than 230 books on a variety of subjects, and was one of the most prolific English authors of detective fiction.
