First edition, a well above average copy of a book often found in poor condition, with hinges strong and the cover gilt fresh and bright. Considered a classic in the literature of Wall Street, Clews expanded the book towards the end of his life to cover another 22 years and published 'Fifty Years in Wall Street.' Born in Britain, Clews emigrated to the United States and rose from pottery importer to co-founder of the second largest marketer of federal bonds during the U.S. Civil War.
