The Chicago author replies to a request for an autograph: "I was delighted to receive your friendly note telling me that you enjoyed reading 'Within This Present'. It is always a pleasure to hear from readers who like what you write! Of course I am glad to send you my autograph, with thanks for your interest and with every good wish. "
'Within This Present' was published the previous year, in 1933, and was framed around family life in Chicago.
