London: Paul Elder and Morgan Shepard, 1902. First edition. 8vo. Color-printed plates. Original decorated boads. Spine partially perished, a little wear to the extremities, and full page illustrations a bit browned [as usual] else a very good copy. Item #56231
A presentation copy, warmly inscribed by Hall. In 1901 the author accompanied French aeronaut Etienne Giraud on a nocturnal excursion in his balloon from Paris into the Burgundy countryside. Upon his return to San Francisco, Hall had his account handsomely printed with zincographic illustrations by Ross, who went on to fame as a sporting illustrator.
