Invisible Cities

New York and London: Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, 1972. 8vo (8 x 5.5 inches). 165 pages. Original cloth-backed boards; unclipped dust jacket (priced $6.50) designed by Arnold Skolnick. A fine copy in a near-fine, mylar protected jacket, with slightest evidence of shelfwear at extremities, and unobtrusive paperclip impression on upper front panel. Item #408583

First Edition in English, translated by William Weaver. Calvino's masterful deconstruction of the travel narrative and a prime example of his use of combinatory practices to generate his novels (he had been invited to join the Oulipo in 1968 and this is one of the earliest works made after he came under the group's influence). Now very scarce in this condition.

Price: $600.00
