[New York]: [1979-1982, but these probably printed 1982-85]. Set of 20 offset prints on multicolored wove paper (including one duplicate), 10x10 inches (25.5x25.5 inches). In original zip-lock bag. Item #405994
Each print is composed of 100 words in 20 lines. Holzer's unsigned and commercially produced pieces subverted conventions of art, advertising and graffiti when they were originally put up on the streets of New York. Holzer appropriated quotations from Mao, Lenin, Goldman, and other political theorists, anarchists and religious fanatics. This textual recontextualization, rigidly adhering to her constraint of 100 words in 20 lines, creates an uncanny, and eerily prescient, effect.
