FIRST EDITION. Full title: "Ricardi de Bury Philobiblon ex optimis codicibus recensuit versione anglica necnon et prolegomenis adnotationibusque auxit Andreas Fleming West." The Philobiblon was originally written to inculcate in the clergy the pursuit of learning and the love of books (1345). The Grolier Club certify that this copy of Philobiblon, in three volumes, is one of an edition of two hundred and ninety-seven copies on paper and three copies on vellum of which the first and second volumes were printed in April and the third volume in December 1889.
