Early edition of the commentaries on the Psalms by the Italian Benedictine scholar Folengo, first published in Basel, 1540. Folengo left the Benedictine order in 1528, questioning the validity of the monastic vows; he returned to monastic life in 1540. During his hiatus, Folengo came into contact with the Neapolitan reform-minded circle founded by Juan de Valdés. In 1580, his Psalm commentary was added to the Index of Prohibited Books; it was later removed. Adams F-683. Bibles Paris 3413 ( "Vulgate commentée verset par verset" ). Not in STC Italian.
