Morris sends a check (not present) for one-guinea in payment for some facsimiles: “I can scarce believe in the figure, ‘tis so cheap.” In fine condition. Not in Kelvin (though a number of other letters to Colvin are published there).

Sidney Colvin (1845-1927) was an English curator, literary and art critic, and close friend of Robert Louis Stevenson. He was a major contributor on artistic subjects in the ninth edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica (1875-89). He was at the time of this letter Slade Professor of Art at Cambridge, as well as director of the Fitzwilliam Museum. In 1884 he was named keeper of prints and drawings at the British Museum.
