FIRST AMERICAN EDITION. Limited to 500 copies (of which only 100 were signed; this copy from the unsigned issue). This edition is scarce with the jacket in any condition. Shepard's pictorial cover and endpapers did not appear in the UK edition of the same year. The 38th poem in the book, "Teddy Bear", is the first appearance of Winnie-the-Pooh (the poem first appeared in Punch magazine in February 1924).
