First. vol 1: xiv + 783 pp; vol 2: 807 pp; vol 3: 761 pp; vol 4 iv+ 772 pp; vol 5: xxvi + 859 pp. the set contains a number photographic plates and maps. volumes one and two are rebound in a suitable gray cloth and are stamped in gilt on the spines -- each are a little dampstained throughout and are slightly rippled but are clear and bright and easy to read [the frontispiece in the first volume is split several inches at the top]. volumes three, four, and five are in the original gray cloth with gilt, blue, and white, and red stamped covers and gilt stamped spines. in all very good set. In the front of the first volume is tipped an interesting letter from M. O. Sherrill, dated in 1903, to an Albert Kern. Kern's name is on the back of the frontispiece [also above is tipped on a small card with details about Sherrill]. A nice copy of one of the more important regimental histories. Item #31672
