This great and pregnant short story which took up most of an issue of the New Yorker, is important in American letters and certainly essential for a true Salinger collector.  It is a roadmap to Salinger's career and his tuning out the world of active publishing.  

This copy of the New Yorker in which the story appeared is one of three mint copies remaining  my stock.

Betty, by the way, signed her name on the flyleaf.  I will not embarrass her here by revealing it.
